Eurasian or Common Teal drawn by Dutch nature artist Paula Kuitenbrouwer, owner of Mindfuldrawing.com and author of 'Birds, Butterflies, Fish & Botany' (Amazon).
The Teal is one of the smallest of the duck family and one of the most beautiful. After the breeding season, the drake loses his attractive colouring and markings and looks more like the duck for about three months. The phase is known as the 'eclipse'.
This drawing is done with many details and due to the colours of teals it has a vintage, old book feel. As if the ducks are from past times, looking at its observer while exploring their new surroundings.
